Don’t underestimate the power of paint. One of the easiest and most inexpensive things you can do to improve your space is to pick up a paint can. If you read our 2024 paint color trends article, you already know the color blue is majorly trending, as well as darker, soft black colors, but did you know about these fun painting techniques to make your room even more unique? Read on to find out about the 5 paint color techniques we’re really loving in 2024.
Color drenching
Monochromatic rooms or color drenching is one of the hottest paint trends right now. Color drenching involves painting the walls, trim, crown, and even the ceiling in the same color for a bold statement look. You can also opt to keep the ceiling white when attempting this look. In smaller spaces, like powder rooms or when you have lower ceilings, it’s recommended to also paint the ceiling the came color as the walls to give the illusion of a larger space.
Bold cabinets
While white cabinets will always be timeless and never a bad decision, homeowners are embracing bold colors for cabinetry in 2024. Aubergine, teal, chartreuse, navy blue and soft black are all predicted to be highly requested cabinet colors this year.
Painting the ceiling
Gone are the days of leaving the ceiling white. Once an afterthought and only reserved for the whitest of white hues, the fifth wall in a room is finally getting its time to shine. Taking a cue from the color drenching trend, homeowners are either opting to paint the ceiling the same color as the room or going with another complementary color, pulling from the room’s color scheme.
High gloss finish
A high gloss paint finish is in vogue and homeowners are rushing to use this treatment in rooms where they want to make a significant statement. While it’s not a recommended finish for the entire home, this high-end look can really elevate one or two rooms in your home.
Multiple paint finishes in one room
Speaking of paint finishes, using multiple finishes in one room is also very popular right now. To recreate the look in your home and add significant visual interest, use a high gloss finish on molding and flat or matte finish on walls and ceiling.
