In recent years, Hendersonville has revitalized its local business scene and advanced its reputation as a place that offers something for just about everyone. You may have heard of Hendersonville’s iconic Labor Day Apple Festival, 76 years strong. But did you know Downtown Hendersonville has community events scheduled nearly every week of the year? Here are just half a dozen upcoming fall events in Hendersonville you don’t want to miss!

61st Annual Art on Main

September 23–25, 2022 @ 10:00AM–5:00PM

There’s more than fall foliage to see this fall in Hendersonville! Artists and patrons come together downtown during this long-running annual event. Explore the fine art and fine craft of more than 100 local and regional vendors at their 10’x10′ booths. Many mediums will be represented, including painting, clay, metal, wood, fiber, photography, jewelry, and more. There are no food vendors scheduled for this event, but luckily you’ll be just yards away from the best restaurants on Main Street.

OktoberFest Celebration

September 24, 2022 @ 1:00PM–7:00PM

Dance on over to Southern Appalachian Brewery for a mountain interpretation of the German Oktoberfest tradition. This annual event is a family-friendly celebration with a live Polka band, traditional festival games, and the always popular Dachshund dog races to benefit Blue Ridge Humane Society. Haus Heidelberg and Underground Baking Company will be providing German food. The brewery is also partnering with The Boys and Girls Club as a sponsor for the kids’ area to provide crafts and games. $10 entry fee at the gate for ages 21+.

“The Haunting of Hill House”

October 14–23, 2022 @ 7:30–9:00PM (3:00PM matinee on Sunday)

Hendersonville Community Theater is setting the mood for Halloween season with their rendition of this story by F. Andrew Leslie, from the novel by Shirley Jackson. Jonathan Forrester directs what’s being called “a chilling and mystifying study in mounting terror”. In the play, a small group of “psychically receptive” people are brought together in evil Hill House and struggle to stay sane amid a series of disturbing events. Tickets start at $16.

Treat Street Carnival

October 31, 2022 @ 4:00–7:00PM

Looking for a safe and eventful place to celebrate Halloween with your family? Don’t miss treats and fun all along Main Street in downtown Hendersonville. Trick and treat at local merchants, celebrate Dia de los Muertos, win fabulous prizes at the costume contest (seven categories by age), play on inflatables, enjoy live music and dance, and so much more! Registration for the contest begins at 4:00PM, and the contest will begin at 5:00PM in front of the historic courthouse.

Silent Auction and Chili Cook-off

November 11 @ 5:30–7:30PM

Join Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks for our annual silent auction and chili cook-off! Bid on dozens of auction items while sampling amazing chili recipes with all the fixings. Can you think of a more delicious way to raise money for a good cause? Proceeds will benefit Henderson County families who need help providing for their children this holiday season. In past years, we have helped with heating expenses, daycare costs, a car purchase, lots of gifts from Santa, and food for holiday meals. On average, we raise $10,000 in two hours. Can we count on you to join us and help us raise funds again this year?

Holiday Tree Lighting

November 25, 2022 @ 5:00–8:00PM

Skip the Black Friday crowds and celebrate with the community! Downtown Hendersonville’s Holiday Street Lighting kicks off the season with Christmas songs, as well as hot drinks and delicious treats from Black Bear Coffee. Shop Main Street merchants and mark a few items off your holiday list. And pay attention to the countdown as Santa arrives to light up Main Street. Lights will turn on at 6:00PM, followed by free visits with Santa and carriage rides.
