Choose and cut your own Christmas tree in NC

Last Updated on November 26, 2024

Did you know that North Carolina produces more than 20% of the real Christmas trees sold in the U.S. every year? That makes us second in the nation for the number of trees harvested and for cash receipts.

Of the estimated 50 million Christmas trees grown by 1,600 growers across 25,000 acres in the state, the vast majority (99.4%) of these are Fraser firs. North Carolina Fraser firs have been judged by the National Christmas Tree Association as the best species for Christmas trees. They’re shipped to every state in the country, as well as Mexico, Canada, Bermuda, the Caribbean, and all over the world—making them the most popular choice for Christmas trees as well. That’s why the NC Fraser fir is this year’s Christmas tree pick for the Biltmore Estate and the White House!

All of this means that North Carolina is one of the world’s best places to grow traditional Christmas trees. And it also means we know a little something about how to find the perfect tree for your home. Whether you want to pick this year’s tree from a selection at a retail lot or choose and cut it down yourself, there are literally millions of choices available.

Here are just a few places across North Carolina where you can choose and cut the perfect Christmas tree:
