Home decor and design enthusiasts will enjoy the HGTV 2023 Urban Oasis, renovated down to the studs and brought back to life with bold color, texture, and impeccable design. Take a visual tour through this delightful home below as we point out our favorite features and trending design elements.

Cabinets hiding everything (even a hallway)

To create an elevated look, an expansive wall of cabinets gives the homeowner tons of storage and conceals a fridge, coffee bar, dishwasher, and even a doorway to the guest bathroom. Panel-ready appliances essentially camouflage appliances like dishwashers and refrigerators, and while this has long been a trend with traditional homes, more and more homeowners are opting for this elevated design feature.

Mix it up with wallpaper

Wallpaper quietly rolled right into the spotlight over the last few years, but if the way the Urban Oasis is decorated is any indication of where this trend is heading, it’s safe to say it’s here to stay. A fun way to dress up bathrooms, smaller spaces, and even ceilings, patterned wallpaper is an easy way to inject a ton of personality in a small space.

Engineered hardwood

Engineered hardwood is quickly becoming a popular choice for flooring. While hardwood is still the most popular option among homeowners, the latest kitchen remodeling survey from Houzz shows us that 14% of homeowners opt for engineered hardwood, compared to 22% that opt for hardwood. Engineered hardwood is different than luxury vinyl plank (LVP), as it is actual wood on the top of the surface underneath a plywood core. This flooring can easily last 30 years and can be sanded down 1-2 times during its lifetime. Its ability to handle moisture and mess from dogs and kids better than real hardwood, makes engineered hardwood an easy option.

As you can see, the Urban Oasis has beautiful 7.5 inch white oak engineered hardwood throughout the entire home.

Go green

Ever since Sherwin Williams declared Evergreen Fog, a sultry greenish-gray, as the 2022 Paint Color of the Year, the color green has catapulted to popularity. Green cabinets are huge, especially for offices; green tile and green walls are all very appealing to homeowners right now. In the Urban Oasis, the entire bonus room is green with envy, from the trim to the ceiling. The primary bathroom features bold green wallpaper throughout and is echoed in the primary suite through the decor and drapes.

Neutral walls

While this house has plenty of personality injected at virtually every turn, you’ll notice that the walls in the main living spaces are white. Warm white walls have been in vogue for a few years now, and this house echoes what can be seen in new builds and remodels across the country. Want to try this look at home? Opt for warmer white colors when bathing the walls with these types of tones. We suggest Benjamin Moore White Dove, Cloud White and Sherwin Williams Alabaster for a cozier effect.

While white walls reign supreme in the common areas, smaller rooms throughout the house, like bathrooms, the laundry room, bonus room, and even the cabinets, are spilling over with color, adding some character to the home.

Get outdoors

The trend of bringing the indoors out is only picking up steam and is evident by the ample outdoor areas in the Urban Oasis. A welcoming front porch with comfortable seating greets guests upon arrival. Homeowners will easily be able to entertain a crowd with the deck, seating area and fire pit on the first floor. For smaller gatherings, an intimate deck is located on the second floor.
