FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Real Estate Leader Issues Community Support Challenge

The president of Beverly-Hanks, REALTORSⓇ is supporting local businesses by purchasing gift cards and challenges other leaders to do the same.

March 24, 2020, Asheville, NC—This week, Beverly-Hanks, REALTORSⓇ is buying gift cards from local businesses across Western North Carolina to support their staff and neighbors during the COVID-19 crisis. Each of the nearly 500 real estate agents and staff members at Beverly-Hanks will be receiving gift cards from a restaurant or retail business near their office.

“We are a local company and felt a strong desire to help our fellow local business owners during this time of trial, particularly those who have been so quickly impacted in the restaurant industry. We also wanted to do something to assist our agents and employees at this time. This initiative allowed us to do both,” said Neal Hanks, Jr., President of Beverly-Hanks. “I am hopeful that other local businesses will consider doing the same. It really is a win/win for both our employees and our local business neighbors.”

Beverly-Hanks knows that the local restaurant industry has been hit quickly and very hard with the restrictions placed upon them in efforts to abate the spread of COVID-19.

“Supporting our local, independent businesses is more important than ever,” said Nicole Bentley, Executive Director of Heart of Brevard. “Every dollar spent locally is an investment in the economic future of our downtown and our community.”

As the leader of a local company himself, Hanks felt compelled to support other local businesses as quickly as possible. Toward that end, and in an effort to show support for our own sales associates and employees, Beverly-Hanks managing brokers have purchased gift certificates to local restaurants in close proximity to each of our branch offices. These cards were mailed to the home address of every employee and sales associate many of whom are now working remotely.

“I can’t describe how impactful this gesture is for the agents and staff, the small family-owned businesses in Brevard, their employees and owners, and our community,” said Jeremy Owen, Managing Broker of Beverly-Hanks’ Downtown Brevard office. “Neal and Amy Hanks’ leadership and the commitment to our communities is an example to all of us. Being able to support our neighbors and spread the love is such a special gift.”

“It’s a long-standing mountain tradition for neighbors to help neighbors,” said Hanks. “I hope that others who find themselves in a position to do so will find creative ways to lend a hand and help preserve our vibrant local business communities.”
