Back to school with Allen Tate President/CEO Pat Riley

The kids are back to school and summer is slowing sneaking away, with the holidays just around the corner.

What lessons have we learned about real estate in the Carolinas this year?

“After 46 years in this business, I am still learning every day – and adopting to new and different tools, opportunities and programs,” said Allen Tate Companies President and CEO Pat Riley.

In the September edition of Carolinas Market Update, Riley shares an update on the market as we head into Q4 2019.

Interest rates. Interest rates are continuing to fall, which presents an opportunity to some homeowners to refinance, consider a second home at the mountains or beach, or move to a different home. Allen Tate Mortgage offers MortgagEase, a simple mortgage application that allows buyers to apply for a loan in as little as 10 minutes.

Quick sale offers. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. However, for homeowners who need to make lots of repairs or sell a home quickly to get out from under it, a quick sale offer might be the best exit strategy, Riley said. Most homeowners, however, will sacrifice money by doing so.

Inventory. Inventory remains at one of the lowest levels in history, Riley said. But some homes are not moving, because they are in need of repairs or in many cases, updates in demand by today’s buyers. Even if you are not ready to sell soon, you should talk with a Realtor and determine the best strategies to make your home marketable in the future.

The value of a Realtor®. A Realtor is a homeownership coach. Regardless of how you start the homebuying process, you need Realtor representation to handle negotiations, inspections and challenges. Even if it looks easy, it’s just too much risk to do it alone.

Carolinas Market Update is targeted to consumers in the Charlotte, Triad, Research Triangle, High Country and Upstate S.C. regions. It is produced every other month by the Allen Tate Companies and features information, statistics, trends and predictions about the real estate market in North and South Carolina.
