Western North Carolina agent closes transactions totaling $119 million

Josh Smith, a Realtor and team leader with Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks/ Walnut Cove Realty, is the top-ranking agent with Allen Tate Companies for 2023.

Smith closed 47 transactions totalling $119,087,800 in sales volume in 2023, achieving the company’s Platinum Circle Award status. His 2023 transactions ranged from $159,500 to $4,800,000.

He was recognized during regional award events held during Q1 in Allen Tate markets throughout the company’s six-region footprint in North and South Carolina. More than 775 Allen Tate agents and teams achieved top performance levels in 2023, based on closed sales volume of $2 million to $119 million.

Smith began his real estate career in 2005 and later worked with his father, Kent Smith, who founded Walnut Cove Realty in 2006. In 2021, Walnut Cove joined Beverly-Hanks Realtors, and in 2022, became part of Allen Tate when the company acquired Beverly-Hanks.

Smith’s career sales total 341 closed transactions, representing $659,629,298 in sales volume.

The Walnut Cove Realty team includes 25 licensed Realtors and four support staff. The team specializes in high-end luxury real estate in Western North Carolina, including property listing and sales in The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, Ashbrook Farms and The Ramble at Biltmore Forest, as well as other residential, commercial and farmland properties.

Smith holds a bachelor of science degree in business from the University of South Carolina. Prior to his real estate career, he worked in the hospitality and tourism industry.

He is an active community volunteer and sponsor of multiple community charities and golf tournaments throughout Western North Carolina, including support of the UNC Asheville women’s golf program and the Walnut Cove Members Association.

A native of Morehead City, NC, Smith was raised in Greenville, SC and has made his home in Asheville since 2005. He and his wife, Ashton, have two children.
