Stephen Duncan, an Allen Tate Realtor in the company’s Belmont office, has been honored with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one of the most prestigious awards granted by the Governor of North Carolina.
Duncan, a native of Belmont, maintains residences in both Belmont and Asheville, where he is active in civic and community affairs. He joined Allen Tate in 2015.
His achievements include directing the incorporation of the municipality of Chimney Rock Village; creating a downtown association and two Historic District designations for the city of Marion, N.C.; and instituting comprehensive changes in housing policies for the City of Asheville while serving on the Asheville Housing Task Force.
In addition, Duncan recently served as first vice-chair of the former Advantage West economic development commission and as a member of the public policy committee for the Council of Real Estate Investor’s Association.
Duncan received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree in political science from Appalachian State University, where he served as student government president. He continues to support strategic initiatives for the university, both academically and athletically. He is also active in economic development in Gaston County and counties in the Western and Northwestern regions of North Carolina.

Duncan enjoys cycling and attending Appalachian State football games.
