Allen Tate Companies President and CEO Pat Riley, Allen Tate Realtors® President Gary Scott honored as Luminaries
Allen Tate Companies President and CEO Pat Riley and Allen Tate Realtors® President Gary Scott have been honored by RISMedia, the leading information and news provider for the residential real estate industry, as 2023 Real Estate Newsmakers.
The sixth annual showcase spotlights more than 300 of the industry’s most dynamic and inspiring leaders for contributions to their companies, colleagues, clients, and the larger cause of protecting and expanding homeownership.
Both Riley and Scott were honored in the Luminaries category, which recognizes iconic leaders. In August 2022, they led the acquisition of Asheville, N.C.-based Beverly-Hanks Realtors, which added 18 offices, 500 agents, 80 employees, and $2.6 billion in closed sales volume.
Riley, who joined Allen Tate in 1992, has overseen the expansion of Allen Tate Companies from three offices to 71. Last year, he was honored with the Charlotte Business Journal’s 2022 Most Admired CEO Lifetime Achievement Award. He currently serves on the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council and the board of Best NC.
“I chose a profession I have loved,” Riley said. “I’ve never felt like I was selling; rather I was coaching, counseling, and leading my clients and my work team, to help them achieve success. I am grateful to have been a part of most people’s largest investment. I have always aspired to be a servant leader, and I have been blessed to serve and give back to my local communities and improve quality of life.”
Scott served as general sales manager and senior vice president at Allen Tate from 1998 to 2010 and returned as president in 2021. He has focused on growing the company and attracting experienced agents.
In 2022, Scott launched REality, a successful podcast that features top-performing Allen Tate agents, icons in the real estate industry and leaders in other fields. He also serves on Bucknell University’s Real Estate Advisory Board and Sports Biz Camps’ board of directors.

In 2022, Allen Tate introduced a Leadership Advisory Council and refreshed its Emerging Leaders Program to focus on these initiatives.”
In addition to Riley and Scott, four leaders with Allen Tate partner company Howard Hanna Real Estate were honored as RISMedia Newsmakers. Honorees include Howard “Hoddy” Hanna, Chairman, Hanna Holdings, Inc. as a Hall of Fame inductee; Helen Hanna Casey, CEO, Howard Hanna Real Estate Services and F. Duffy Hanna, President, Howard Hanna Financial Services, in the Crusaders category; and Howard “Hoby” Hanna, President, Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, in the Luminaries category.
