Allen Tate Company is proud to announce that Angela Kalamaras, branch leader of the company’s Winston-Salem Cherry Street and Hanes Mall Boulevard offices, has received the Triad Business Journal’s Women in Business award.
Kalamaras was among a select group of 24 recipients chosen by the Triad Business Journal and presented with the award at the 18th annual awards luncheon held April 27 at the Greensboro-High Point Airport Marriott. Women in Business award winners exemplify outstanding leadership, service and commitment to their professions and communities.
“Angela is an accomplished Realtor®, leader and mentor. She’s a selfless industry and community volunteer, and a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother,” said Tony Jarrett, Allen Tate regional vice president. “She has made such a positive difference in our company and in our community.”
Kalamaras began her real estate career in 2000, where she became the top sales person with Coldwell Banker Triad. In 2011, she joined Allen Tate Company as branch leader. Today, she manages two Winston-Salem branches, Cherry Street and Hanes Mall Boulevard, with more than 75 Realtors and is responsible for budgets of more than $275,000,000.
Prior to her real estate career, Kalamaras managed a law firm that evolved from five attorneys and 10 staff members to a five-office firm with more than 100 attorneys and 150 staff.
A dedicated community volunteer, Kalamaras has led Allen Tate efforts to support Educator Warehouse, and ultimately local teachers, through the company’s annual FUNday event for public education. She has also organized events to benefit Samaritan’s Purse and Operation Christmas Child, the Clemmons Food Pantry and the Humane Society. She is a past board member and volunteer with the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce and the Winston-Salem Little Theatre.
She currently serves as second vice president for the Winston-Salem Home Builders Association and as chair of the Fall Parade of Homes, as well as co-chair of the Home Inspections Committee of the Winston-Salem Regional Association of Realtors (WSRAR) and WSRAR volunteer for Bolton Elementary School.
“As a young woman, I held back from expressing myself because that was what was expected of women at the time. I learned from that. Today, my peers and friends would describe me as tenacious, vivacious and energetic,” said Kalamaras. “I am definitely committed to not acting my age.”
Kalamaras and her husband, George, have three children, Andrea, Andrew and Eric, and five grandchildren. She enjoys cooking and decorating, and is a former parachutist and marathon runner.
