Allen Tate Companies Chairman Pat Riley and Allen Tate Companies President Gary Scott have been honored as 2024 Real Estate Newsmakers by RISMedia, the leading information and news provider for the residential real estate industry.
The seventh annual showcase spotlights more than 300 of the industry’s most dynamic and inspiring leaders for contributions to the industry, their companies and their communities. Riley was recognized in the Achievers category and Scott was recognized in the Luminaries category.
Riley, who joined Allen Tate in 1992, has been the chief architect of more than 40 acquisitions of family-owned companies, including Asheville, N.C.-based Beverly-Hanks Realtors, which added 18 offices, 500 agents and 80 employees in 2022. He has grown the company from three offices to 73 offices spanning seven regions in North and South Carolina.
Riley is one of the original founders of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, served as board chair in 2015-2017, and received the Hall of Fame Award and Chairman’s Service Award. He has been named to the Swanepoel Top 200 Power Brokers list five times and is a multi-year honoree by RISMedia Newsmakers.
Riley has been awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, North Carolina’s highest civilian honor, and is a two-time recipient of the Old North State Award for community service. In 2022, he was awarded the Charlotte Business Journal’s 2022 Most Admired CEO Lifetime Achievement Award. Riley has chaired every major business board in Charlotte, and he currently serves on the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council and the board of Best NC, a non-profit coalition to improve public education.
Scott, a 38-year industry veteran who served as general sales manager and senior vice president at Allen Tate from 1998 to 2010, returned to the company as president in 2021. He continues to grow and strengthen the company’s position on a regional and national level in partnership with Howard Hanna Real Estate.
In 2023, Scott revitalized the Allen Tate’s Emerging Leaders program to identify agents and help them grow into leaders. Scott also developed and nurtured a new partner office growth strategy in which top-producing agents and teams who want their own office receive assets and support services from Allen Tate. The model has proved successful for both recruiting and retention, with 15 firms and teams currently Partner Offices with Allen Tate.
Scott hosts the popular REality podcast that features top-performing Allen Tate agents, icons in the real estate industry and leaders in other fields. He was named to the Swanepoel Top 200 Power Brokers list twice and was selected as a RISMedia Newsmaker for 2022.
