Gary Scott, president, Howard Hanna Allen Tate Real Estate President and Howard Hanna Southeast, has been named to the 2026 Power 100: Visionaries list by the Charlotte Business Journal.

This year’s list recognizes 100 innovative thinkers and decision-makers whose bold ideas and big leadership will shape the Charlotte region in the coming decades.

As president of Howard Hanna Allen Tate Real Estate, Scott oversees all residential and support operations for the company, which includes 2,000 real estate agents in more than 80 local offices across a seven-region footprint in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Additionally, he serves as president of Howard Hanna Southeast, overseeing residential operations for 400 agents in 18 local offices in Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina.

Scott has more than 40 years of experience in residential real estate, focused on sales, leadership, and mergers and acquisitions. He previously served as general sales manager and senior vice president of Howard Hanna Allen Tate from 1998 to 2010 and returned to the company as president in 2021.

In August 2025, Scott led the 69-year-old company’s rebranding as Howard Hanna Allen Tate, positioning the company for the future as part of the largest family-owned real estate company in the country.

“Going forward, what will make a difference is our ability to stay connected to homebuyers and sellers between closings. We are building that now through innovative programs like HannaList. Later this year, we are rolling out company-provided roof inspections. We also continue to provide value through our comprehensive homeownership services — including mortgage, insurance, title and property management — that keep us connected with our valued customers,” Scott said.

“My father taught me 40 years ago to challenge the traditions of the past, every year, without fail. That doesn’t necessarily mean you change them, but it means you question them. That discipline builds a culture within an organization. It signals to the team that vision, evolution and innovation are essential rather than optional,” Scott said.

In 2025, Howard Hanna Allen Tate Chairman Pat Riley and Allen Tate Companies Founder H. Allen Tate III were both named to the Charlotte Business Journal Power 100 list, which recognized the 100 most influential leaders who helped define the Charlotte region’s transformation over the past 25 years.

Howard Hanna Allen Tate is the No. 1 privately held residential real estate company in the U.S. In 2025, Howard Hanna Allen Tate closed 14,900 transactions totaling $7.5 billion.
