It’s almost time to celebrate America’s birthday! We look forward to this holiday every year because it presents the opportunities to gather with friends and family, host a community barbecue, and “ooh” or “ah” at the local fireworks display.
There are so many fantastic local events and fireworks shows happening this year in Winston-Salem, Greensboro and the surrounding areas, so we rounded up a few of the best ones to help you plan your Independence Day celebration. Have fun out there and don’t forget your red, white and blue!
July 3rd in the Park | Burlington
When: July 3, 5-9 pm
Where: Burlington City Park
You can kick off the Fourth of July festivities a bit early at this get-together in Burlington. Head down to Burlington City Park on the eve of Independence Day for live music, delicious food, amusement park rides, games and a dazzling fireworks show at 9 pm.
Fun Fourth Festival | Greensboro
When: July 3-4, times vary
Where: Downtown
Celebrate America’s birthday in style at Greensboro’s Fun Fourth Festival. This is the biggest Fourth of July festival in the region and it all kicks off on Tuesday evening with a Freedom Run 5K and 10K. After the race, enjoy a block party with live music, food, drinks and dancing into the night! Wednesday’s festivities will include a parade and a street festival concluding with a Pops concert in the evening and a fireworks finale. Find a complete schedule of events here.
Splash B4 the Blast | Kernersville
When: July 4, noon-2 pm
Where: Kernersville Family YMCA
Enjoy your day off and take the family to the pool for a splash! The Kernersville Family YMCA will be hosting a pool party in honor of the holiday complete with giveaways and free hot dogs (while supplies last).
Fourth of July Fireworks | Kernersville
When: July 5, 6:30-10:30 pm (gates open at 5:30 pm)
Where: Kernersville Elementary School
The Legacy Motown Revue will be performing live at this Fourth of July extravaganza! Before the fireworks, dance along to the show, play a volleyball game, and enjoy food and beverages. Make sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket for the post-sunset fireworks.
Fourth of July at Finch Field | Thomasville
When: July 4, 7-10 pm
Where: Finch Field
Come celebrate the Fourth of July with Thomasville’s local baseball team, the Hometown HiToms, as they take on Martinsville. After all, what is more American than participating in America’s national pastime? After the game, stay to enjoy the fireworks display over the field.
Independence Day Celebration | Old Salem Historic District
When: July 4, 9:30 am-4:30 pm
Where: Old Salem Historic District
Did you know that Salem was the site of the first public Fourth of July celebration? It’s only fitting to continue the tradition in the town where it all started! Enjoy hands-on activities, patriotic music, family-friendly games and so much more. This festive event is meant to be both fun and educational, so bring the whole family to take a step back in time and see what life was like back in the late 1700s and early 1800s.
Shallowford Square 4th Celebration | Lewisville
When: July 4, 6-10 pm
Where: Shallowford Square
The town of Lewisville hosts one of the largest Fourth of July celebrations in the Triad. The party kicks off around 6 pm at Shallowford Square, and will include a live performance from The Extraordinaires followed by a spectacular fireworks display after dark! Admission is completely free and concessions will be available for purchase.
4th of July Festival | Archdale
When: July 4, 3-10 pm
Where: Creekside Park
This Archdale festival will feature carnival rides, pony rides, a family fun area, food trucks, local vendors, knockerball, live music and so much more! Bring the entire family to take part in the festivities and make sure to stay until after dark for the fireworks.
Uncle Sam Jam | High Point
When: July 4, 4:30 pm-10:30 pm
Where: Oak Hollow Festival Park
Mark your calendars for one of High Point’s most popular summertime events. The Uncle Sam Jam will feature live music, food and beverage vendors, novelty vendors, and a family fun zone with inflatables, a waterslide, an obstacle course and a climbing wall. Make sure to bring blankets or lawn chairs for the fireworks show after sunset!
