Today, we’re shining a spotlight on one local organization that helps locals build their leadership skill sets. We invite you to learn more about VISION Transylvania and how you can participate in their next class.

What is VISION Transylvania?

VISION Transylvania is a ten-month course that gives 25–30 adult participants an in-depth knowledge of Transylvania County. By focusing on the area’s history, present, and future, the program develops skilled leaders who are informed, involved, and committed citizens engaged in moving the community forward.

Program participants engage in an orientation, two retreats, and ten intensive days covering the following topics:

  • Business/Industry & Economic Development
  • Education
  • Environment and Natural Resources
  • Government
  • Heath Care & Human Services
  • History/Cultural Diversity
  • Law Enforcement & Emergency Services
  • Local Arts
  • Outdoor Recreation

At the end of their course, graduates of the program have formed a network for cooperative community trusteeship, as well as a team approach to solving community problems and visioning the future. Hopefully, all graduates have also come to believe that local and regional knowledge and cooperation are critical elements in causing change and moving the community forward.
