Allen Tate Companies, the Carolinas’ leading real estate company, has named Clay Vassey as branch leader and broker-in-charge of the company’s offices in the Lake Keowee and Lake Hartwell region of South Carolina.
In his new role, Vassey will oversee branch operations for four offices — Lake Keowee Seneca, Lake Keowee West, Lake Hartwell and Keowee Key. He will lead and grow a team of more than 50 Allen Tate Realtors® and staff.
Vassey replaces John Pulliam, who is retiring from leadership but will remain with Allen Tate in a business development role. Pulliam joined Allen Tate in March 2018 when his company, 1st Choice Realty, established in 2005, was acquired by Allen Tate Realtors.
A second-generation real estate professional, Vassey has worked as a Realtor since 2014 and broker-in-charge in the Lake Norman area of North Carolina and in Columbia, South Carolina. Prior to his real estate career, he worked in industrial sales and business development, covering territories in Chicago, St. Louis, Dallas and North and South Carolina. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in corporate communications from Mars Hill (N.C.) College.
An active community volunteer, Vassey was previously involved with the Miss South Carolina division of the Miss America pageant organization, hosting the Miss Columbia and Miss Capital City scholarship pageants. He has also been involved in fundraising for the Children’s Miracle Network.

A native of Campobello, S.C., Vassey and his wife Heather have two sons, Hudson and Gunner and are in the process of relocating to the Mountain Lakes area from Huntersville, N.C. He enjoys classic cars, trucks and motorcycles, as well as camping, hiking and fishing.
