Real estate leader expands footprint, closes 16,665 transactions

Allen Tate Companies ended 2023 with $7.5 billion in closed sales volume, the second best year in the history of the 66-year-old company.

The Carolinas’ leading real estate company reported 16,665 closed transaction sides in 2023 and listed 9,142 homes for sale.

Allen Tate now operates 73 offices with approximately 1,800 agents in seven regions throughout the Carolinas.

With its partner Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, the company is ranked as the #1 independent real estate brokerage in the country, with more than 500 offices across 13 states and 15,000 sales agents and staff.

“Last year brought continued challenges of interest rates, inflation and inventory. But 2023 was also a year we outperformed the market. That speaks volumes,” said Allen Tate Companies Chairman Pat Riley.

The Allen Tate/Howard Hanna Family of Companies also reported strong results for 2023:

  • Howard Hanna Mortgage closed 894 loans totaling $284.4 million for Allen Tate and Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks customers in NC and SC.
  • Allen Tate Insurance provided insurance coverage to 17,462 customers, with 32,918 policies in force.
  • Allen Tate Relocation generated 7,947 referrals and closed 2,664 referrals through its Relocation connections around the world.
  • Master Title Agency and Cardinal Title produced more than 7,500 title insurance policies, insuring more than $5.7 billion in property value.
  • Builder Services partnered with 8 home builders, representing 22 new homes communities in North and South Carolina, and closing 117 transactions totalling $76.7 million.

More than 700 Allen Tate Realtors achieved top performance levels during 2023, based on closed sales volume of $2 million to more than $100 million. Allen Tate will celebrate these achievements at regional awards presentations over the next month.

Realtors are recognized each year by Allen Tate for their achievements in categories including company-wide closed sales volume, closed units, listing volume, listing units, and referrals, and for legendary service provided. Realtors are also recognized for their achievements within their region and at the branch level, including top individual agent, top team and rookie of the year.

In 2023, Allen Tate partnered with local independent brokerages to open three offices: Allen Tate Belmont/The Simpson Group, Allen Tate West Jefferson/Ashe High Country Realty; and Allen Tate Troutman/Royal Properties of the Carolinas. Allen Tate also opened new offices in Durham, N.C. and Cashiers, N.C. and moved its Saluda, N.C. office to a new location. Additionally, the Allen Tate Greensboro office moved to a renovated space on the first floor and the Allen Tate High Point office was refreshed.
