2024 is predicted to bring more buyers to the market, as buyers determined to wait until mortgage rates are lower will be happy with the dip in rates and realize they can’t wait forever.

This increased competition does not mean sellers can phone it in, though, as in a fast-paced market, homes that sit longer than others will stagnate. Position your home in the best possible light when you pay attention to these 5 selling features that will make your home stand out above the rest.

A home that is move in ready

No one wants to move in and immediately get to work, tackling a never-ending to-do list. A move-in-ready home should check the following boxes:

  • Electrical work up-to-date
  • All plumbing in working order
  • Roof should have a substantial lifespan left
  • Windows that are working and free from any rot
  • Siding working and free from any rot
  • HVAC/furnace that still has some life left, i.e., doesn’t need to be replaced in 6 months
  • Kitchen and bathrooms that function
  • Paint that is free from any chipping or significant markings

Flexible space options

With more and more homeowners working at home, flexible spaces are very desirable. Sellers should work hard to stage every space, remembering that spaces to work, complete homework, exercise, and entertain are all high on the list of many buyers in today’s market. Formal dining rooms that aren’t being used, bonus rooms or even additional bedrooms are all great spaces to turn into the flex space of your buyer’s dreams.
