If you are someone who has been trying to create a beautiful jungle vibe in your home but can’t seem to keep a single plant alive, you’ve come to the right place. We can promise you that these five plants will thrive under the care of your less-than-green thumb. They will be patient if you forget to water them and can thrive in virtually any enviroment they are placed in. Check out these botanical beauties and become the plant-parent you’ve always dreamed you could be!

Pothos (Epipremnum aureum)

Pothos are widely known as the easiest houseplants to manage. These plants are happy to be in pretty much any room in your house or office since they thrive in low light conditions. But the best part of this plant is they prefer their soil to dry out completely before you water them. Go on vacation or forget to water for a week and they will actually thank you for it. If you want to hang a plant from the ceiling or off a shelf, pothos are a great choice as their leaves will begin to trail down when they start to grow.

Air Plant (Tillandsia)

The name says it all. This unique plant doesn’t need soil to grow, so not only are they easy to maintain but they can be displayed in a variety of creative ways. To take care of your air plant, submerge it in water for a minute or give it a nice misting once a week. They prefer medium light so placing them in a room with natural, indirect sunlight will make air plants happy.

Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum cochlearispathum)

Peace Lilies are a beautiful, striking plant that can live for years on end, flowering over and over again. They don’t require a lot of light and are great air purifiers. Peace Lilies are a tropical plant so anything you can do to mimic this type of environment will allow this plant to flourish (unless humans, they like humidity!). One of the best things about this plant is it will tell you what it needs. If it needs water, the leaves will droop but will almost instantly perk back up after their soil is moist again. If you want the foliage of this plant to sprout open with the gorgeous white flowers, place it in higher sunlight.

Lucky bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana)

Lucky bamboo plants are the perfect gift to give to friends or yourself as they are a symbol of good fortune, just as the name suggests. These plants can thrive in soil or water and prefer a room temperature climate. A neat feature of lucky bamboo is your ability to twist the stalks by simply manipulating their light source over time. The plant will lean towards the light, so if you turn it consistently in the same direction, it will begin to twist.

Mother-in-law’s Tongue, Snake Plant (Sansevieria)

These plants are pretty invincible, so much so that you may even forget that it’s real! They can prosper in bright, direct sunlight or in a dark corner of a room or office. Too much water is actually bad for a Snake plant so when taking take of it, err on the side of underwatering. These plants release oxygen at night so are a great choice for a bedroom.
