Most importantly, the letter P represents Pat’s defining quality – passion. When he raises his hand to offer advice, lend his services or answer a question, you can be assured that it’s something Pat is most passionate about.
Pat got his start in the real estate business in 1972 and joined the Allen Tate Company in 1992. He is widely recognized as a leader in the real estate industry, currently serving as chairman of the board of directors for Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, a global network of more than 500 independent real estate firms in 52 countries. When he isn’t walking and talking real estate, Pat enjoys running and spending time relaxing at the beach with his family.
When it comes to real estate, few know the industry better than Phyllis Brookshire who joined the Tate family in 2007. As president of Allen Tate Realtors, Phyllis oversees operations of the Triangle region as well as those of the residential real estate services footprint wide.
A native of Raleigh N.C., Phyllis began her career in real estate while attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and later helped establish the residential real estate division for her family’s company, York Properties, until 2006. Besides real estate, Phyllis has also pursued her other passion, the training and showing of American Saddlebred horses and is a true Southerner when it comes to watching ACC sports and drinking real Southern sweet tea.
Growing up, no one says that they are going to be in the relocation business, but DJ Stephan, president of Allen Tate Relocation, knows that once you find yourself there it is hard to want to leave! With more than 24 years experience in the relocation field, DJ’s experience includes both private and public sector business. DJ joined Allen Tate Relocation in 1999 after working in different aspects of the relocation industry in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta. Helping people all over the world with their relocation complements DJ’s love for traveling abroad. When asked what her favorite trip has been, DJ won’t miss a beat in describing her Thanksgiving in New Zealand.
Mike LaRuffa is his name and building and development is his game. With more than 37 years of experience, Mike brings a wealth of knowledge in the areas of development, building, sales, marketing and asset management. As president of Builder Services Inc., a member of the Allen Tate Family of Companies, Mike is responsible for collaborating with clients in product design, land acquisition support, competitive analysis and strategic marketing. When he’s not building new business relationships, Mike enjoys cooking, fishing and U.S. history.
After graduating from the University of Florida, a die-hard Gators fan, Chris Cope began his career as a financial consultant for Merrill Lynch. He continued his career working for companies including Coldwell Banker and NRT and Sunbelt Lending Services before joining the Allen Tate Family of Companies as president of Allen Tate Mortgage Services in January 2007. With more than 12 years in the mortgage services industry, Chris brings knowledge and experience that enables him to strengthen and elevate Allen Tate Mortgage within the company and across the Carolinas. While he’s known by many as the mortgage man, Chris is also an amateur oenophile and enjoys deep sea fishing for billfish.
For Tony Jarrett, a passion for real estate started in 1990 while he was working for his family business, C21 Jarrett Realty. He later merged his family company with independent firm Preston & Geraci Realtors, where he served as general manager until joining Allen Tate in 2002. As regional vice president for the Triad, Tony is responsible leading all aspects of seven branches in the Triad region. In addition, Tony serves as vice president of operations for the Allen Tate Companies. Outside of real estate, say hello to one big Tar Heels fan. Basketball, football, you name it! Tony also enjoys riding his bike long distance.
In 2003, Robin Price continued her journey on the insurance track by joining the Allen Tate Company after spending several years as a front line underwriter with USF&G. Working on the company side as well as the agency side has given her the experience needed to fill the role of vice president of sales for Allen Tate Insurance, where she is responsible for the direction of the Allen Tate insurance team from South Carolina to Raleigh. Robin is a rarity these days in Charlotte … she is a native! She grew up in Charlotte, as did her husband, and loves that she is Charlotte born and bred.
Once upon a time, Tom Gongaware, an FM radio DJ, was awarded Billboard Magazine’s top national honor as “Air Personality of the Year” for his work at the legendary WQDR in Raleigh. The former rock jock went on to a successful career in radio, TV and broadcast management in a variety of cities before becoming a Realtor® in 1989. After six years, he segued back into a management role with his company, serving as Broker-In-Charge for the firm’s flagship office. A few mergers and acquisitions later, Tom remained in a senior management position and continued the coaching, mentoring and recruiting of sales agents as a vice president and managing broker for a new company. Tom serves as general sales manager for the Triangle region, overseeing all aspects of Triangle operations.
Susan Larkin wears the marketing hat for the Allen Tate Family of Companies. As vice president of marketing and public relations, Susan leads an award-winning department that manages corporate advertising, branding, media relations, Realtor marketing and more for 40 branch offices from Raleigh, North Carolina to Greenville, South Carolina.
Susan, her daughter Eliza and their dachshund Molly make their home in Fort Mill, South Carolina. You’ll often find Susan sprucing up her yard, researching her next home improvement project or enjoying a fun weekend getaway.
Lisa and her husband, Chuck, make their home in Waxhaw with their twin sons and dog Duke, where they enjoy socializing with a community of friends.
